About this award:
Since 1994, the National Congress of State Games has presented two deserving athletes who have participated in State Games competition with an award signifying their embodiment of the spirit of State Games. These athletes are chosen among the nearly 400,000 amateur athletes who compete in State Games each year from California to Maine. Individual State Games nominate these athletes for consideration and a committee of State Games staff members and Executive Directors (two from each of the four NCSG regions, select a male and female athlete who will represent all State Games athletes for the coming year.
The recipients of this award, along with a guest, will be invited to a banquet held in their honor where they will be presented to the membership of the National Congress of State Games, and the media, and honored guests.
