WHY WE'RE INVESTING IN SOCIAL MEDIA AND WHY YOU SHOULD TOO!
Some people think Facebook and Twitter are a silly waste of time. That's too bad for them. These two social media platforms are transforming the way many companies, people, and non-profit organizations are doing business. They're not going away, and eventually everyone will be using them even more than websites. Why not jump on now, and take advantage of the opportunity they offer organizations like the Maine Games.

Facebook and twitter allow us to share information with you, and in turn, you will be sharing it with your contacts, and they'll share with theirs and so on and so on ... Getting the word out about this event should be much easier when everyone is helping to spread the word.
         We'll be posting information
about our meet on the Maine Games Facebook page, as well as photos, video, registration information, and even games and your chance to win back your registration fee. But ... You have to "like" us on Facebook to be entered in any of our contests.

Additionally, we'll be posting photos and results to our Facebook page directly from the meet. Share our page with your friends, and they'll be able to follow our meet even if they can't make it there to see it live.
           We're also using Twitter to
connect with athletes from all over the world including Olympians and professional athletes who want to follow our events.

We'll be posting information, results, photos, and videos and we'll also be sharing tweets with spectators, the media, and others who are at the event, those who are competing, and those who are following the Maine Games events all over the globe.

USE #mainegames when tweeting so we can follow your tweets and can keep up with you and your competitions as well!
            For several years now
athletes who have competed in the Maine Games have been posting videos of their events on YouTube. We have our own YouTube channel and encourage anyone with a video camera to share what they capture with the rest of the Maine Games community.

We will work with you and your logo to design a great banner to support the Maine Games and our anthem audition event in 2012. The cost shown includes manufacturing of your banner, a  sturdy, portable stand to ensure you get great exposure, and when the event is finished, you get to keep the banner.

These banners are made of sturdy vinyl, and have hemmed edges and grommets for easy hanging. We use a four-color digital process, so with a large enough format photo or logo, we're able to produce a terrific banner for you and your business.

This event in a nutshell: The Maine Games will begin accepting online applications starting February 1, for Maine singers with a passion for their country, their flag, and their national anthem. Each year we receive as many as 100 or more online applications and we make our selections to audition live based on one simple criteria ... ONE essay question: "What does the Star Spangled Banner mean to you?"

Based on the submitted answers to that question, we will select between 25 and 30 Maine singers to audition for us live at the historic hall located at the Kora Shrine Temple, in Lewiston. This venue was built over 100 years ago, back in a day when there were no microphones, or amplification. The acoustics of this performance hall are perfect for our event, and provide a fantastic opportunity for a singer with a strong voice to showcase their singing ability as well as their patriotism.

Greater detail: A panel of judges, including former Maine Games National Anthem vocalists, will critique each performance, and will select three finalists who will be invited to the stage one more time to perform a second time.

After a short deliberation period, the judges will make their selection, and the winning singer will be asked to remain for a brief period so that promotional photos, and video can be obtained. They will be briefed on their upcoming requirements, and shortly after, will begin fulfilling their duties as the 2012 Maine Games National Anthem vocalist.

Appearance and presentation count and vocalists invited to audition are strongly urged to dress and look the part for what basically is a job interview. The judges will be looking for a strong "package" of vocal talent, poise, confidence, and appearance, as the winner of this competition will be representing the Maine Games, but also appearing before thousands of people.

The winning vocalist will be required to travel from their home to Portland, for an appearance with the Portland Seadogs (which will be scheduled by the Seadogs), to Biddeford, for the Lobster Bowl Classic, on July 21 at 4:00 p.m., and to other opportunties. The Maine Games MAY provide a travel stipend of up to $100 in a gas card, however this will depend on sponsorship of this event.

Performance opportunities include: Portland Seadogs, Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic, Maine Games events, and much more! Applications will be taken beginning February 1.
